The meeting was opened at 6:35 pm.

  • The group made a round of introductionOLD BUSINESS

 

  • Elections – Murphy will connect with Tom G. to confirm he is accepting role as incoming DCM
  • Registrar – it was recommended to roll this position into the DCM responsibilities. A motion was made and passed.

Question: what is meant by “groups” versus “meetings”, Fred clarified.

There was discussion around how to boost attendance at this meeting. Suggestions included providing food/snacks, announce at individual meetings, talk about service sponsorship. It was also mentioned that training for GSRs is potentially available at the Area level.

Open Suggestion to make the DCM contact for all of these.

Motion to eliminate the Events Reps and roll those up into the DCM as contact was passed.

Fred suggested that GSRs please let their groups know about the open positions.

Question regarding accessibility – is anyone translating Spanish at Gratitude breakfast? Allison will get in touch with accessibility rep for Area 11 to see about options.

OFFICER’S REPORTS

DCM – Geoff has been attending meetings. Suggests getting familiar with CT-AA.org. Working with Ted to put together a course on navigating AA’s digital assets, perhaps to run quarterly. Provide information, time for Q&A. Organizing a service day with D19 and D21. Area committees have tables, provide information about service positions.

TREASURY – The Treasurer’s Report was accepted as follows:

Total cash (Key Bank): $5,143.26

Cash held in excess of prudent reserve: $4,206.37

Cash held in prudent reserve: $1,077.25

Cash position reflects all but one undeposited check for $140.36

January Expenses: no expenses

January Income: $140.36 CT Shoreline Online Group

Budget Variance Report:

  • Revenue for YTD totals $140.36, a negative variance of -$3,805.52 to FY 2024 (5.61% of the 2025 budget)
  • Expenses YTD totals $0, a neutral variance to FY 2024
  • Net Income for FY 2025 is $140.36 YTD

RECORDING SECRETARY – the minutes from 12.19.24 meeting were reviewed and approved with no corrections.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS

REGISTRAR – duties are now rolled up into DCM position. There is a new Tuesday men’s step meeting 7-8 pm.

ALKI-LINE – no report. Paper publication being phased out possibly to be replaced by another format.

ANSWERING SERVICE – reporting available on number of calls, types of calls, etc. will be made available to DCMs.

CORRECTIONS REP – no report

GRAPEVINE REP – position is vacant. Kathryn has the books and materials for now and is checking the email account. There is a book inventory available online, link to follow.

CPC REP – Attended area CPC meeting, a couple of events coming up. Josh K. is setting up opportunity for district reps to come and see him present to see what he puts together. Nick is working with Geoff to build up contact list in Guilford.

PI REP – went to police station they were very receptive and have a PI representative (Jordan). Murphy will connect with her. Question: Do they have a protocol for referencing AA during DUI dark moments?

SCHEDULES/WEBSITE – Al attended first Area web site committee meeting. Motion approved to create ad hoc committee look at redesign of Area web site. Al standing for chair of that committee.

Note: there is an ad hoc committee for literature. Melanie is chairing, idea to stockpile or have available for the districts so they could buy it here in CT.

Question: does every group have a GSR or how could we encourage those without to get a GSR?
